We received an exceptional and interesting request that challenged us to think outside the box. Working closely with Betti, a renowned company that has specialised in developing cartoning machines since 1955. we accepted this challenge with full enthusiasm. Even for Betti, this application was a new experience.

One of the main advantages of plastic boxes is that they are suitable for packing moist or greasy products. Unlike cardboard boxes, which are prone to leakage, plastic boxes provide reliable protection against the escape of moisture or grease. This is particularly crucial for products that are prone to damage or spoilage when exposed to moisture.

Recycling of plastic boxes.

Another important aspect to consider is the recycling of packaging materials. Here, the use of plastic boxes again emerges as a favourable choice. Since plastic boxes consist entirely of plastic, they do not need to be further separated during waste disposal. This simplifies the recycling process and contributes to efficient and sustainable waste disposal.

However, in the case of cartons for this particular product, there would be an additional challenge. To prevent moisture or grease from leaking through the cardboard, plastic bags would have to be placed inside the boxes. And plastic glue would have to be used to glue the boxes. This complicates the recycling process because the plastic bags and glue would have to be separated from the cardboard separately.

To meet all these challenges, we made innovative modifications to the Betti NB50 15W, an industry-leading cartoning machine. These modifications allowed us to process plastic cartons efficiently and accurately, while maintaining product integrity and minimising the risk of leakage. This included optimising the packaging process, implementing special sealing techniques and ensuring consistent and reliable quality of the packaged products.
